It is a small indigenous community of 50 people in the Republic of Panama. Our community, puru biakirú, was founded on Thursday, May 31, 2018. Initially Today the community is known as puru biakirú which in Emberá dialect means "pretty village".
The first individuals to settle were the Ruiz Family, Elias Ruiz and his wife Alicia Caisamo and their 5 children, Eneldo Ruiz, Angel Ruiz, Euclides Ruiz, Ivan Ruiz and Eliecer Ruiz. They left the province of Darien in the 1970's in search of a better life near Panama City.

What we offer is often referred to as cultural ecotourism. The cultural part means that visitors get to know and interact with us; the ecological part means that they learn about the rainforest with a low impact on our natural environment and our way of life.

Today we have a unique tourism program that is in charge of and supports our community. The contrast of tourists interacting in such a traditional setting may seem disconcerting at first, but the program has actually strengthened our community in many ways.

You will enter the most hidden corners of the rainforest away from modern life with expert guides.
You will not forget what your eyes will see and you will carry it with you for the rest of your life.

We keep our traditional ways alive by practicing and living them every day. Puru biakirú is our home, and we invite you to get to know our culture, our people, our way of life, we are proud to share it with you!
Our ancestors were farmers, experts in medicinal plants and skilled artisans in traditional Emberá carvings in cocobolo wood. Together they forged a small and humble community in the jungle of Alto Chagres. They practiced subsistence farming and hunting to support themselves and their families.
